The Goal of OrphanAct:
The goal is to help orphans by working through in-country Rotary clubs.
Unique features of OrphanAct:
This is a long-term, multi-district project. OrphanAct uses the power of the internet to display pictures of children and projects so that Rotary clubs may easily select a project or children's facility to sponsor. OrphanAct also uses small international volunteer teams to facilitate the project work.
How OrphanAct works:
In-country Rotary clubs select children's facilities that they would like to have a long-term relationship with. They take photos of the projects, the children, and the children's facilities. The photos and text are posted on the OrphanAct website. A Children's Action Team is created to support the children's facility. U.S. Rotary clubs access the website, see the photos and may then choose a project or facility for their club to support.
OrphanAct Children's Action Team volunteers facilitate the processing of the project by communicating with the U.S. Rotary club and the Romanian Rotary club. Photos and receipts of the completed project are posted on the OrphanAct website. OrphanAct is an all-volunteer project.
Support for OrphanAct:
OrphanAct was originally a club project of the Kihei-Wailea Rotary Club. OrphanAct is a 501 (c) non-profit and is now sponsored by Rotary clubs around the world.
